She obtained her MD at the University of Berne investigating risk factors for bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in patients with cystic fibrosis and her PhD at the University of Melbourne investigating the immune response to the immunisation with different strains of BCG vaccine. After her return from Australia in 2011 she joined the UKBB and set-up the mycobacterial research laboratory.
