pathological gait deviations
to differentiate which gait deviations are due to the primary disease (e.g. cerebral palsy) and which are reactions to compensate the anatomical/functional limitations of the patients

Short biography

Katrin obtained her BSc in Sports Science at the University of Freiburg (Germany), followed by the MSc at the Technical University in Munich (Germany). From 2010 till 2013, she wrote her PhD thesis entitled “Principles of pathological gait” at the University Basel (Switzerland) supervised by Prof. Dr. med. Reinald Brunner and Dr. Jacqueline Romkes.

Since 2013 she works in the gait laboratory of the University Children’s Hospital Basel. Here, she currently combines clinical gait analysis service and research on gait pathologies in patients. To answer her research questions she uses joint kinematic, kinetic, and electromyographic data that are further processed in MATLAB, SPSS and R-statistics.
