Interdisciplinary Centre for Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours

The Centre for Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours specialises in the treatment of children, adolescents and young adults diagnosed with tumours in the bones or musculoskeletal system. This facility is managed by the UKBB in cooperation with University Hospital Basel and is one of the first national sarcoma centres offering interdisciplinary treatment for both children and adults.

High level of patient care from an experienced sarcoma team

Atthe Centre for Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours of the University of Basel, patients are treated and cared for on an interdisciplinary basis by a very experienced sarcoma team. The Centre combines diagnostic, surgical and medical expertise to treat patients with benign and malignant tumours of the musculoskeletal system.

In addition to specialised surgeons, operations are generally performed with pathologists in attendance, and quite often also oncologists, vascular and plastic surgeons as well as interventional radiologists and radio oncologists.

One of the first centres of its type in Switzerland

UKBB's oncology experts are represented in high-level national and international committees of experts. Thanks to many years of expertise and consistent involvement in scientific conferences and specialist events, the Centre for Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours, established in 2005 at the University of Basel, has established itself as a supra-regional treatment centre.

The Centre is just one of four clinics of its type in Europe and the only one in Switzerland to be recognised as an interdisciplinary specialist treatment centre by the bone tumour association Arbeitsgemeinschaft Knochentumoren (AGKT).
