Healthcare specialist EFZ

As a healthcare specialist (FaGe), you work in the healthcare and social services sector and are a central point of contact for patient care. You will take on a variety of nursing tasks, provide support in carrying out medical treatments and ensure the well-being of patients.

As part of your training at UKBB, you will acquire in-depth knowledge of nursing care, health promotion and support for children and adolescents. You will learn how to respond to the individual needs of patients, care for them, promote their mobility and help them with everyday activities. You will also be involved in documentation and administration to ensure the quality of care.

During your training as a healthcare specialist (FaGe), you will work in various areas of the healthcare system at UKBB. An interest in working with children and young people and a sense of responsibility are essential for this profession.

As a healthcare professional, you take on an important role in the healthcare sector that is both challenging and fulfilling.

Your tasks as an EFZ healthcare assistant at UKBB:

• Support with the care and supervision of children and young people
• Carrying out therapeutic and medical measures according to instructions
• Observation and documentation of the patient's state of health
• Cooperation in an interdisciplinary team
• Promoting the mobility and well-being of patients

With appropriate academic performance, there is the possibility of Vocational baccalaureate during the training programme. You can find further information here.

Once you have completed your apprenticeship as an EFZ healthcare specialist, you will have a wide range of options open to you. Whether it's a direct career start or further training - shape your career path in paediatrics.

• Completed compulsory schooling (preferably secondary school level E)
• Strong interest in paediatrics and the specialised care of children and adolescents
• Enjoy dealing with paediatric patients and their caregivers in an empathetic and professional manner
• High social competence, sense of responsibility and team spirit
• Commitment and willingness to collaborate across disciplines in a dynamic environment
• Willingness to work irregular hours (shifts and weekends)

Conclusion: Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ)

During your training as a healthcare specialist (FaGe), you will acquire valuable theoretical and practical knowledge for your future career.

School education: Vocational school for health (BFG)
Practical skills: Inter-company courses organised by the OdA Gesundheit beider Basel
Professional practice: Practical training at the University Children's Hospital Basel (UKBB)
