Study programme: Nursing Specialist HF - Field of work KJFF

As a qualified nurse (HF) in the field of KJFF (children, adolescents, women and families), you are a key specialist in the interdisciplinary team and make a significant contribution to the comprehensive care of sick children and adolescents. Your work involves the holistic care and support of young patients, working closely with doctors, therapists and the intra-professional team to ensure optimal treatment. You will not only look after the young patients, but also their families and carers and ensure empathetic and understanding communication.

In Ihrer Rolle als Dipl. Pflegefachfrau/Pflegefachmann HF im UKBB arbeiten Sie sowohl in der Akutpflege als auch in der chronischen Versorgung. Sie kümmern sich um die medizinische Versorgung, die pflegerische Betreuung sowie die emotionale Unterstützung der Patient*innen. Zudem überwachen Sie den Gesundheitszustand, führen pflegerische Massnahmen durch und beraten sowie klären Eltern und Angehörige individuell auf.

Im UKBB liegt ein besonderer Fokus auf der Pflege von Kindern und Jugendlichen in allen Altersstufen – vom Neugeborenen bis zum Jugendlichen. Die Arbeit stellt aufgrund des Alters und der besonderen Bedürfnisse der Patient*innen spezifische Anforderungen an Ihre Fachkenntnisse und Ihr Einfühlungsvermögen. Neben fundiertem Wissen in der pädiatrischen Pflege benötigen Sie ein hohes Mass an Geduld, Sensibilität und Kreativität, um den emotionalen und physischen Bedürfnissen der Kinder gerecht zu werden.

During your training at the College of Nursing, you will have acquired extensive knowledge of healthcare, paediatrics and nursing science, which will enable you to provide the best possible care for young patients.

Your tasks as a qualified nurse HF in the KJFF field of work at UKBB:

• Carrying out nursing care and support for children and adolescents in various medical areas (e.g. in the intensive care unit, in surgery or the emergency ward)
• Monitoring the state of health, administering medication and assisting with medical procedures
• Empathetic support and education for carers
• Planning and realisation of individual care goals as well as documentation and evaluation of care processes
• Collaboration with the entire medical team to ensure holistic care
• Support with diagnostic and therapeutic measures
• Supporting patients with rehabilitation measures and health promotion

In this responsible role, you not only work together with medical professionals, but also play a decisive role in the emotional care of young patients and their carers. Your work requires a high level of expertise, empathy and a strong sense of responsibility.

• Completed secondary level 2 (specialised secondary school, high school diploma or federal certificate of proficiency)
• Strong interest in paediatrics and the specialised care of children and adolescents
• Enjoy dealing with paediatric patients and their caregivers in an empathetic and professional manner
• High social competence, sense of responsibility and team spirit
• Commitment and willingness to collaborate across disciplines in a dynamic environment
• Willingness to work irregular hours (shifts and weekends)

Professional practice: University Children's Hospital Basel (UKBB), supplemented by internships at partner hospitals

Application process:

• Attendance at an information event at the Basel-Stadt Health Education Centre (BzG)
• Online application
• Aptitude interview
• Aptitude assessment in practice through a two to four-day internship with self-assessment and external assessment
• Examination of the dossier and decision by the admissions committee at the BzG
• The employment contract (training company) and the training contract (BzG) will be issued after approval by the employing company and the admissions committee
