Career

Following his medical and neurosurgical training at the University of Basel, Aarau Cantonal Hospital, Basel University Hospital and UKBB, Prof. Jehuda Soleman continued his clinical training as a paediatric neurosurgeon at UKBB and Dana's Children University Hospital in Tel-Aviv, Israel. In 2018, he completed his habilitation at the University of Basel. Since then, he has been Head Physician and Deputy Head of the Department of Paediatric Neurosurgery at UKBB.

Main research areas

In his habilitation and clinical research, Prof Jehuda Soleman focuses on the differences in the neurosurgical treatment of children and adults. He conducts research on innovative approaches to the surgical treatment of craniosynostosis, the neuroendoscopic treatment of hydrocephalus, arachnoid cysts and childhood brain tumours as well as the treatment of childhood epilepsy and patient/parent satisfaction (so-called PROMs) after paediatric neurosurgical procedures. He is a research group leader at the Department of Clinical Research Basel and heads all clinical research at the Department of Neurosurgery and Paediatric Neurosurgery.

Expertise

Prof. Jehuda Soleman has extensive expertise in the minimally invasive (endoscopic) and open treatment of craniosynostosis, the minimally invasive/neuroendoscopic treatment of hydrocephalus, arachnoid cysts and childhood brain tumours as well as the treatment of spasticity using selective dorsal rhizotomy. He also deals with spinal malformations, the surgical treatment of childhood epilepsy, Chiari I malformation and syringomyelia as well as childhood spinal cord tumours.

Prof. Jehuda Soleman is the father of two children and a renowned and dedicated paediatric neurosurgeon. Having trained at an internationally renowned centre for paediatric neurosurgery, he brings a wealth of experience and unique knowledge to paediatric neurosurgery.
