Traumatology

The traumatology department at the University Children's Hospital Basel (UKBB) treats the consequences of accidents involving children and adolescents. We specialise in the treatment of common injuries such as bone fractures, soft tissue injuries as well as head, chest and abdominal injuries. In the case of serious accidents and severe injuries, our Surgical Paediatric Trauma Centre (CKTZ) available.

An interdisciplinary team of experienced emergency specialists will look after your child in the paediatric emergency ward. Our comprehensive care takes into account the age and severity of your child's injury. All surgical disciplines are available at all times for emergency operations. Depending on the type of injury, your child will then be admitted to the ward or intensive care unit.

As a university children's hospital and centre for seriously injured children, we offer round-the-clock care. In our outpatient consultation hours in the outpatient clinic, we take care of follow-up checks, therapy adjustments, plaster and bandage changes. Metal removal is possible without any problems with the help of nitrous oxide. We are also happy to take care of injuries that occur during the holiday season, for example.
