As a qualified specialist in surgical technology HF at UKBB, you are an important part of the interdisciplinary team and play a key role in ensuring that surgical procedures on children and adolescents are carried out safely and professionally. You will work closely with various specialists to ensure that young patients receive the best possible care before, during and after surgery.

In your role as a qualified specialist in surgical technology HF, you will take on a variety of tasks that require both technical knowledge and a high degree of empathy and sensitivity. Working with children and adolescents presents particular challenges, as you will be working in an environment that is specially tailored to the needs of young patients and their carers. You will ensure that the operating theatre is always optimally prepared, assist and instrument during the operation and take care of the follow-up and documentation of the procedures.

During your training, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge in surgery, orthopaedics, anaesthesia and emergency medicine. During your practical training, you will be specifically prepared for the special requirements and learn how to deal with the special needs of young patients. Your tasks will include preparing the operating theatre, providing the necessary instruments and assisting with surgical procedures.

Your tasks as a qualified specialist in surgical technology HF at UKBB:

• Preparation and sterilisation of the operating theatre and surgical instruments
• Assistance during surgical procedures, both in preparation and during the operation
• Ensuring patient safety and compliance with hygiene standards
• Documentation of the course of the operation and the materials used
• Collaboration with the entire medical team, including surgeons, orthopaedists, anaesthetists and nursing staff
• Follow-up of operations and support with aftercare
