Als dipl. Fachfrau/Fachmann Operationstechnik HF im UKBB sind Sie ein wichtiger Teil des interdisziplinären Teams und tragen massgeblich dazu bei, dass chirurgische Eingriffe bei Kindern und Jugendlichen sicher und professionell durchgeführt werden. Sie arbeiten eng mit verschiedenen Fachkräften zusammen, um eine optimale Versorgung der jungen Patient*innen vor, während und nach der Operation zu gewährleisten.

In your role as a qualified specialist in surgical technology HF, you will take on a variety of tasks that require both technical knowledge and a high degree of empathy and sensitivity. Working with children and adolescents presents particular challenges, as you will be working in an environment that is specially tailored to the needs of young patients and their carers. You will ensure that the operating theatre is always optimally prepared, assist and instrument during the operation and take care of the follow-up and documentation of the procedures.

During your training, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge in surgery, orthopaedics, anaesthesia and emergency medicine. During your practical training, you will be specifically prepared for the special requirements and learn how to deal with the special needs of young patients. Your tasks will include preparing the operating theatre, providing the necessary instruments and assisting with surgical procedures.

Your tasks as a qualified specialist in surgical technology HF at UKBB:

• Preparation and sterilisation of the operating theatre and surgical instruments
• Assistance during surgical procedures, both in preparation and during the operation
• Ensuring patient safety and compliance with hygiene standards
• Documentation of the course of the operation and the materials used
• Collaboration with the entire medical team, including surgeons, orthopaedists, anaesthetists and nursing staff
• Follow-up of operations and support with aftercare

• Completed secondary level 2 (specialised secondary school, high school diploma or federal certificate of proficiency)
• Interest in the specialised care of children and adolescents, including care in challenging surgical situations
• Enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team within a dynamic environment
• High level of social competence, sense of responsibility and empathy in dealing with paediatric patients and their caregivers
• Technical understanding, manual dexterity and a high level of concentration
• Willingness to work irregular hours (shifts and weekends)
• Good physical and mental resilience

• Aptitude assessment in practice through a two to four-day internship with self-assessment and external assessment
• Submission of the final documents to the HFGS
• The employment contract (training company) and the training contract (HFGS) will be issued after approval by the employing company and the admissions committee
