Deformities and tumours

When growing children suffer a fracture, the fracture may fail to heal or the affected or neighbouring bones may become malaligned and deformed after the fracture has healed. These malpositions and deformities can also be caused by direct involvement of the growth zones in the skeleton of children and adolescents.

Congenital malformations or growth disorders that only develop over time can also lead to restrictions. Whether an operation is necessary depends on individual factors such as age, residual growth, extent of the malposition or deformity, restriction of mobility, cosmetic impairment and the extent of involvement of the growth plates.
