The paediatric intensive care unit at the University Children's Hospital Basel (UKBB) has a total of 16 beds, divided into eight neonatal and eight paediatric units. For overnight stays, we can offer you (max. 1 parent) a bed in the immediate vicinity of your child. Alternatively, there is also a sofa bed in the parents' room on the ward. This allows you to sleep comfortably close by and provides a supportive presence throughout your hospitalisation.

On the ward:

If your child is hospitalised on the ward and a short-term stay on the IPS is planned, the room will be kept free for you as an overnight accommodation option if possible.

For longer stays, parents, siblings and close relatives can, on the recommendation of the UKBB, be accommodated in the designated Parents' home of the Ronald McDonald Foundation stay overnight. The nursing staff and doctors will be happy to assist interested parties in reserving a room.

Please note that siblings are not allowed to stay overnight on the ward.
