Inhalation

For the best possible effect in the lungs and bronchial tubes, the medication is inhaled for respiratory diseases (e.g. asthma or obstructive bronchitis).

1. The child should sit or stand upright (babies should be placed on the lap).
2. Shake the metered dose inhaler vigorously four to five times before use, then place it on the AeroChamber® without the cap.
3. Make sure that the mask fits tightly over your mouth and nose.
4. When inhaling, press the metered dose inhaler once (hold vertically).
5. Keep the mask pressed firmly against the child's face for four to six breaths. The valve must move with each exhalation.
6. Administer the prescribed number of doses one after the other by repeating steps four and five.

• Ventolin® has an antispasmodic effect on the bronchial muscles and is used to treat asthma and obstructive bronchitis, among other conditions. Side effects are generally rare. Nervousness, a rapid pulse or trembling may be observed. These reactions are normal and disappear again after inhalation.
• When inhaling preparations containing cortisone (e.g. Axotide® or Pulmicort®), give your child something to drink afterwards and wash their face to remove any remaining medication. Older children should rinse their mouth.

The metered dose inhaler should not be stored above 30°C, protected from frost and direct sunlight and kept out of the reach of children.

There are always 200 strokes in a Ventolin® metered dose inhaler. The fill level of the metered dose inhaler can be determined by weight. By weighing the cartridge on a kitchen scale, the fill level can be read from the table.

1. Clean the AeroChamber® once a week.
2. Remove the coloured rubber cover from the back of the device (do not remove the mask).
3. Place both appliance parts in lukewarm water with a mild, liquid detergent for 15 minutes, moving the parts carefully back and forth in between.
4. Shake off excess water (do not rub dry due to static charge).
5. Allow the parts to air dry completely in an upright position.
6. The AeroChamber® should not be used with more than one child.
