Paediatrics (paediatrics and adolescent medicine)

Paediatrics, also known as paediatrics, clarifies and treats diseases of newborns, children and adolescents. In addition to general paediatrics, it includes all special areas of internal, i.e. non-surgical paediatrics. This includes, for example Cardiologywhich Neonatology and the Radiology.

Because children and adolescents are still developing, paediatricians need to make diagnoses as early and accurately as possible. In addition, treating and caring for children requires far more patience and different skills than adults. This is why paediatricians at UKBB specialise in child- and age-appropriate examination techniques and involve the whole family in the care of children. Another important task of paediatricians is the Child protection.

The paediatricians at the UKBB work closely with specialists from other disciplines such as the Surgerythe Orthopaedics or the Psychiatry together. Complex diseases can thus be treated on an interdisciplinary basis.
